It was Saurday morning, sunne weather. Mrs. Susy, Reni, Elon, Trolly the dog, Fyfy the pig, young tiger Mun and group familian children were go to the forest beyond the river. They wanted to find a natural, forest decoration for the oppening ceremony of the animal asylum and school.
Everyone had backpacks with sandwiches and drinks, as well as baskets for forest treasures such as rasberries, blackberriers, blueberriers, wild stawberriers. They were also supposed look for decorative forest flower, herbst, cones and twigs.
A barge transported everyone to the other sideof river. Satisfied and delighted everyone set off to the forest. They were to move in groups and call each othe. Some had compasses, some sould steer according to the sun. Some had also whistles and drums to hear each other trough the forest thicket. Everyone had watches and knew that at four o’clock in the afternoon they were to be on the river bank waiting to the barge.
Unfortunatelly, the tiger Mun and Fyfy the pig have strayed too far from the others. Mum showed off in front of Fyfy that he would never get los. They ran together like crazy, playedhide ans seek, rolled in the forest litter, swung on tree branches.
After some time Fyfy began to worry and asked tiger ifhe knew how to get back to the rest of the group. Then Mum admitted that he didn’t know and that they both had lost their way.
After some thought , they decided to look for stream. Fyfy told : After all, the stream will lead us to the river ! They waded trough bushes and thickets until came up on an arrow path, they came across a small stream. Now they were glad and walked in the direction the water in the stream flowed. They also listened to see if they would hear the sound of a whistle or drum. But all they could hear was the mumrmuring of the stream, the rustle of tree and the singing of the birds.
Then they saw that someone had hung boots on the trees and birds were flying next to them, feeding the chicks in these boots. Looking around Fyfy and Mum noticed that there are also wooden kennels on the ground, such as those made for homeless dogs and cats. Some dogs were barking in the distanceand the outside the trees, a human home could be seen.
Piggy and tiger stopped. They were afraid that some bad man would catch them. They stood quietly, not knowing what to do now.
And then they heard and saw their saviors. The dog Trolly, sniffing with nose the ground, ran to them. Elon ran behind him and then Reni !
After a while, everyone hugged joyfully. Trolly was licking the oig. Mum was flexing his back near Reni’s legs. And Elon was saying: It’s good that we managed to find you, we were worried about you.
The children attached leashes to the animals and everyone went to see who lived in the house behind trees. Then Elon decided to press the bell at the gate and soon a tall, older man with long beard was walking towards them.
He said cheerfully : Oh, what strange, unexpected guests I have ! I invite you inside. My name is Barnaba. I’m retured colonel. I buillt this house to live here for the rest of my life. I live here alone and have homeless animals for company.
Mr Barnaba narated : Come, you will seemy sculptures and paintings. I will giveyou something hot to drink and eat. Then I’ll drive you in my car to your house. I hope we will not get lost and everything will end well !
In the yard and in hause there were larde and smaller sculptures and paintings. The works mostly depicted the Lord Jesus. Mr Barnaba explained: I was a commando, look at my uniform in the closet. I was threatened with death or disability many times. I am alive and I am whole thanks care of Jesus Christ, so now I paint Him in pictures and sculpt Him as I saw Him.
The children told Mr. Barnaba about the opening of the asylum and school ,and invites him to openning ceremony.
Mr. Barnaba agreed to be at ceremony. He gave the children wooden angels to decorate asylum.
Then to drove everyone by car to the barge stop.
It was approaching four o’clock in the afternoon and everyone was happy to be together again. Children had full baskets of nice forest treasures and loaded them onto the barge.
Mrs. Susy tanked Mr. Barnaba and children from the barge waved at him to say goodbye.
