PERSEVERATIVE MEETINGS

SHE AND HE

Catherine a month ago turned 8 and now she was supposed to go to a summer camp for children on the national elite of teachers. Her parents bought her a small suitcase and put her on a long-distance train going to the other, north ,end far of the country ( a conductor was supposedto take care of the girl on train ). Catherine was very happy because she was about to see sea first time in her life.

One afternoon, when Catherine looked into the camp’s playroom, she saw a group of older boys at the piano, who ironicaly commented on the apperance of girls playing there. The boys were led by L. and was then that Catherine heard his name and surname for the first time. Cathy went to her room and took out  her most beatigul dressand walked proudly and slowly past a  this group of boys. She pretended not to hear the exclamations of delight, did not look back.

About 14 years later Cathy was a former student  a country-famous university in a remote city. She noticed once that she was stubbornly watched by a student older than her. When she  looked at him, she immediately recognized L. He had the same wide pale face, posable mineand body posture. From a senior colleague Cathy learned that L.is a last-year student of the same field study and the editor  of a nationwide student magazine. It is not known if  L. recognized in Cathy the same girl from seaside camp. There was no conversation beetwen them.

After a few years, Catherine graduated and moved to another city distant from the previous one. Once she wrote asking to some information to a cultural weekly and then she received a comprehensive response from.. L. But she didn’t continue this corespondence.

In about two years, there was another meetingof these two, the most provocative and yet inefective..They met on a commuter train by the same sea. It was the summer tourist season and there was a lot of pressure on the train. It is completely unknown how it happened that Catherine and L. found themselves wagon and the same place in the corridor.

They drovefor several dozen minutes squeezed in a crowd of several centimeters face to face. Both pretended not to know each other, avoided looking into each other’s eyes !

Catherine was with her husband, L. was with his wife. The both mariages were childness and after a few years ended in divorce. So maybe fate wanted the two of them to necessaritly become a couple ?

Or maybe the souls of these two were able to oppose fate because they felt that they possible relationship would be tragic ?

THEY AND HE

Mrs. Cecily had a very strong heart attack and was lying in small resuscitation room of a city hospital.

After a few days, a man was brought to the same room. Let’s call him N.

Severe condotion of both patients gradually imporoved but as strangers, they dis not talk to each oher. They had only a polite smile and suffering in common.

After a few days condition Mrs. Cecily suddenly deteriorated and she died.

Mr. N. had a strong body, defeated the disease and was soon discharged from the hospital.

21months have passed since Mr. Simon was placed in the same large city hospital. He was awidowed husband of Mrs. Cecily, already know to us here. He was 21 years older than his wife. He was a famous man in the city, now old and very sick.

After a few days, theb grandson visiting Mr. Simon, noticed that someone he knew had just been placed on the adjacent hospital bed.  Then Mr. N. was already know to us !

Shortly there after, Mr. Simon’s condition deteriorated dreatly. Mr.N. said sadly to Mr. Simon’s grandson : Your grandfather told me about his life. Before that, I was a patient here next to your deads grandma.Your grandfather was delirious, the doctors were with him for along time and gave him a lot of  meditation. I don’t want to see her suffer,I’ll go watch TV in the hallway.

Half an hour  later Mr. Simon died without regaining consciousness.

Mr.N., again treated, returned home.Butafter some time he, old, also died.

Is very unikely that the same stranger woud be a companion in the folowing distant times. But why it happened is really hard to explain.

Perhaps this was of great importance to Mr. N.
